1. The first Scenario

Architectural theory is a major hospital that consists of various data analysis tools in the same destination, to search for one's illness and to provide treatment. The social conditions of communities that are ill, is always seen in terms of socioeconomic without seeing the gaps as an integral part of the spatial system. It is one method to seek the return of faulty memory by changes.2)

Architectural theory is the background of healing of lost recollection due to political pressure. Architecture is the rubble that fills the urban space for centuries and remain in human memory, except for ethnic Chinese settlement that were cleared from the eye of the new order (Soeharto era from 1966 to 1998). By the time the urban memory is erased and its inhabitants lost their history, architectural theory as a way of interpreting the environment becomes meaningful, because only through this discipline the city as a spirited body can be understood spiritually.3)

As the streets of Jakarta were widened, and old shopping areas were renewed, there has been an "architectural Murder in Batavia". Batavia had been killed and replaced by highly deterministic Jakarta: determined by the capital and the political forces that is not ethical anymore.

Accordingly, architecture is not the Berlin Wall built to separate people from love. Architecture became an empty space caused by the existence of this wall, as fragments scattered in the narration of human history and waited to be reinterpreted.4) Architecture is the old houses of Lasem that are left from the mainstream of Indonesian history, forgotten, and ignored by the advancement of time.

From an architectural standpoint, the city is a long narrative cultural history. The fragment of buildings and artifacts into a paragraph creating the story of human civilization in which the city is developed, compounded, fused and animated. Even the city debris also have a role in a narration that requires a rich description. Therefore, architecture makes the city a novel, which is different from the one purchased at a bookstore of which readers just follow the storyline, however, the city is a novel that readers helped to build a story. Although how complete any existing data, architecture as the articulation of space, still requires interpretation of the human environment as a constructive habitat.
